President Obama Once Ate Dog Meat, No Kidding

If you are part of the free world then you know that the 44th president of the United States of America is Barack Obama.  President Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Hawaii. His life is well documented so here are some fun facts about President Barack Obama that may interest you:

  1. His full name is Barack Hussein Obama II which means “one who is blessed” in Swahili. His nick name in high school was “O’Bomber” due to his skills on the basketball court. He was also known as “Barry” until he went to college and his grandmother use to call him “Bar.”
  2. He is left-handed.  There were six other left handed presidents in history.
  3. His favorite meal is shrimp linguini prepared by his wife Michelle and his favorite drink is black forest berry iced tea.  His favorite food to cook is chili. He also loves to snack on chocolate-peanut protein bars.
  4. He doesn’t drink coffee and stays away from alcohol, although he is a smoker.
  5. He collects Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comics and has read every Harry Potter book.
  6. As a teenager he smoked marijuana and sniffed cocaine.
  7. As a teenager, he worked at the popular ice cream chain Baskin-Robbins and now despises ice cream.
  8. He initially wanted to become an architect before getting into politics.
  9. While living in Indonesia, he kept a pet ape named Tata.
  10. Also, while living in Indonesia, he ate dog meat, snake meat and grasshoppers.
  11. He speaks Spanish fluently.
  12. When he was in college at Harvard, he applied to appear in a black pin-up calendar but was rejected.
  13. His favorite television programs are Mash and The Wire and his favorite movies are Casablanca and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
