Police: Pastor Touched Young Girl While Church Members Said Nothing

Another pastor was arrested this week.  The 48 year old Pastor – Michael Bryant was taken into custody on December 18, 2013 for molesting a teenager at his church.

Reportedly the pastor would allegedly take advantage of the teenager by removing his genιtals from his clothing and showing it to the victim.  He would then strοke, feel and massage the vιctim, reports WREG-TV. All of this occurred while her mother was at work.

Bryant whose church is in Memphis, Tennessee – Hour of Restoration Church of God in Christ is now behind bars.  Bryant pastored the church for 3 years.  Prior to taking on his current pastoral duties, he served as an elder with another church – Greater Community Temple COGIC.

The victim, a 16 year old family member, reports that she told her mother repeatedly of the abuse; however her mother never reported the crime to authorities.  Instead, her mother offered the situation up in prayer – hoping that it would come to an end. No information was given on how the vιctim is related to the pastor.

Although Bryant told the girl’s mother he was guilty of mοlesting her child, the mother asked God to take the lustful thoughts out of the pastor’s head – she never took the matter to the police.  Reportedly some of the other church members knew of the incident as well – however, chose not say anything.

One member, Leonard Gray stated that he was upset about the report and that he did not believe the allegations because the pastor was an honorable man of God.  One of the pastor’s neighbors said the story was unbelievable because the pastor always toted a bible.

Officials believe the pastor’s latest attack on the 16-year old was earlier this week.  When the vιctim reported the incident to her aunt, the aunt turned the incident over to law enforcement officials; this resulted in the arrest and sεxual charge.

Naturally Moi editor’s question: What do you think? Does this happen too often in the church, or is this an isolated incident?  Why do you think this kind of behavior was allegedly overlooked? Do we give our pastors too much of a pass on their behavior, raising them above scrutiny?  This was a problem with the Catholic Church – is it a problem with the black church as well?

Consider the religions that existed before the one your captors claimed. Maybe the religion is the problem. Keep praying to the wrong deity and you will keep getting the wrong results.

@Harold. Harold you wrote: “Consider the religions that existed before the one your captors claimed Maybe the religion is the problem. Keep praying to the wrong deity and you will keep getting the wrong results.”

Following your line of reasoning should one conclude that the religion of the enslaved before their enslavement is a better one than the porno prone one practiced today in the USA, or are you saying that the deity of the pre-captor enslavement experience was the RIGHT religion and that deity answered prayer with captivity and enslavement as the RIGHT result?

Sounds like a ball of confusion.

How ’bout human kind scrap all religion and replace religion with a genuine relationship with the Creator of human kind?

Vivian Allison, you say the victim should have had the sense to go to the police. We’ll, I assume that you have never been a victim which I hope you haven’t, but it is not that simple. From the little bit of story it sounds as if the devil had been doing this for a while to this teen. She tells her simple-minded mother who is suppose to protect her and this fool says to pray about it. She tells others in the church and they accuse her of lying because the devil is an upstanding member of the community. Neighbors can’t believe it because he always carried a bible. Now do you honestly believe that she actually believed the police would believe her? Please don’t be so ignorant as to put this on the victim. I’m thankful that he aunt cared about her, listened and turned his butt in. The mother and others she went to for help need to be locked up with his nasty tail.

People all hear this; if anyone know of a person molesting a child and do not tell the police. You will be arrested for keeping it a secret. It is against the law to know of it and not tell law enforcement officials. You will go to jail. So tell even if it is a church member, pastor whatever. Just to let you know I’m a minister and I whole heartily agree with the law on this issue.

Correct me if I am wrong. The only person who knew of the abuse was the mother. Everyone else said, when asked that they don’t believe the story because of who they thought the pastor was. So how does that make the “church members” as the title implies complacent in this crime?

Beloved, even where there is a suspicion of child abuse it is to be reported. The investigation and substantiation of any allegation is up to the child protection agency and local law enforcement. The paper work that gets completed is called a,”Report of Suspected Child Abuse”. You can (usually) report without leaving your name. If those church members heard rumors… They were indeed OBLIGATED to make a report. I am a sworn volunteer in Family Court, well familiar with the law(s) surrounding (suspected)child abuse. We must ALL BE RESPONSIBLE for the protection of our children. If we are not doing it who is?

If any person have knowledge of children abuse or molestation and fail to report it,by law can be charged with child endangerment.

This is the reason churches are full of women & children because men already know about the dog in the pulpit! As for the mother someone forgot to tell the dummy that the Lord helps those that help themselves, she should have prayed about it, then dialed 911 and then prayed again! I feel sorry for the child having such an idiot for a mother! They need to hang this so-called minister by his balls in his jail cell!

I think that before any person can take on “Any” leadership position where they have sole access to vulnerable people need to have Psychological testing done as well as local and FBI fingerprint background checks…background checks to see if they have already committed a crime before and Psychological testing determine’s if they have a potential ability to committ predatory crimes…I know someone who had a child molested and the person was prosecuted but the “church” still allowed this man to be in the pulpit, lay “filthy” hands on children in so called prayer and they also sided with this man saying ignorantly they were trying to restore him as the bible said in “love”, but they showed no concern for the victim nor their family…we have too many “sheep” trying to be leader’s (Shepards)this is one of the many reason’s they don’t know or see trouble and most of the time they are the trouble in the house…

The bible clearly states that faith without works is dead. She should have been praying while she called the police.

Leviticus 18:6 – None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover [their] nakedness: I [am] the LORD.

The bible also says render those things that are Caesar to Caesar and render those things that are God to God.

She clearly needs to read her bible.

This young lady, from what I understand, sought assistance from more than one church leader. I don’t care if it was one or a dozen, when you go to your church officials they are suppose to be there to help and not shun you away because the child molester carries a bible and a title in the church. They knew of the allegations against him and did nothing, so yes, they are just as guilty as the mother.

Okay, here is what is really going down.
Black people and the masses are being programmed and exposed to all this violence and sex over and over.
In spite of all that talk of god, jesus and the bible.
This guy like so many are being programmed in a subtle manner to act on these feelings or emotions.
Not saying this guy is innocent, but just explaining the overall process
being use that is putting these guys or whoever in the overall mentall state to do these crimes against innocent kids.

So the mother prayed for “god” to take the lustful thoughts away and stop molesting her daughter. That’s about as useful as praying to a pasta strainer or a shovel. She should have gone to the police as should every adult she tried to talk to. This is almost as stupid as the women who were convinced to perform fellatio on a minister in South America who convinced them it was the “holy spirit.” Pedophilia isn’t confined to the Catholic Church and the scandal in the evangelical churches is just begining to be exposed.

It’s not a question of praying to the “wrong deity.” There’s no “right deity,” out there. Absolutely nothing important will ever be accomplished by prayer. Accomplishments are the result of action, not prayer.

A criminal is a criminal regardless if he or she carries a bible or
not. This church must be in the back woods or something. Her prayers
were answered when the 16 year old told her aunt and she took action.
I think the mother might had been scared to report this pastor sins, in fear of church retaliation….Since, the aunt who was not apart of the
congregation, she had nothing to fear. I feel that the mother should
be subjected to some type of penalty. Both parties should receive Psychological Counseling so that they can mend their relationship. If not, the daughter is always going to blame the mother for what happen to her. If this relationship is not put in check, the daughter will or may retaliate in the future. Psychological Counseling is definitely needed with a well trained, certified and degree individual. Please no
    Pastors need apply….

May God continue to bless them.

It is the duty of all people, especially those in positions of influence and authority, to protect every physically, mentally or emotionally vulnerable persons among us. This type of thing is happening much too often all over the country. The church hierarchy (COGIC, BAPITIS, AME, CME, COG, PENTICOSTAL) being in authority has to take responsibly for these they have ordained. If these churches would lose their tax exempt status if their pastors commit crimes, they would take pay attention to who they ordain and how well they run their congregations. I find it peculiar their are no Pastors or Deacons committing on this tread.

Sounds to me that the pastor is the mothers man, that is the only reason she wouldn’t report the abuse to the police. Some women are willing to sacrifice their kids to keep some d!ck that will eventually destroy their kids. She probably also discouraged the girl from talking to the police. Mama needs to be arrested alongside the creep for child endangerment and do some time. Your job on earth is to protect your children no matter what and from everyone you can.

Well prayer can change things, True. However, child abuse by an adult should carry immediate prayer on “how fast can I drive to the police station to report this?”

Well here we have yet another fine example of “black queen” in the form of a religious god fearing female who stood by knew her daughter was being molested by this animal and did nothing. Sometimes I am so disgusted with my gender and embarrassed too and I dont believe this sheit is uncommon.

These so called preachers are the worst. He and the child’s mother should be in jail as they are both responsible for this heinous crime. Where was the child’s father? Never mind.

This girl’s life is just totally off track.

Everyone who witnessed or was aware of this should be charged also. Coming out of the city of Memphis I’m hardly surprised a poll conducted last year found that over 50% of the residents found consensual sex between an adult Male & a minor female acceptable. I found listening to the radio station online out of Memphis, they more often than not attack & slander the young lady & primarily women doing the name calling & insulting “these fast A$$ little girls now” just disgusting

that mother is a piece of shyt and should be killed. Black people are so damn stupid. A weak, confused, prideless people. It’s been exposed to the rest of the country how weak blacks are, and this is why you will see an escalation in the ethnic cleansing of blacks in the u.s.

It amazes me to see the church people and worldly people commenting on this matter. For those of you that read your bibles know the bible says this “There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spirits and demons in high places. No matter what title you have ALL wrestle with some kind of spirit or demon. Not saying that what the pastor did was right, by no means, but my question is for those who want to close down churches or say men have problems. What are you doing to make things better? What is the solution to these problems? People always have opinions but never have solutions. It is a lot of people at fault on this one right here. The Pastor first then the mother and then the child.

I am starting to notice this more and more. There is no community in the African American Society. There is no unity or cohesiveness at all. Everyone is so independent and for self. The churches are not the same anymore, the leaders, the teachers, the lawyers, doctors, no one. Someone needs to make a difference. What happen to it takes a village to raise a child. My question is where is this girl father, brother, uncle or something? People in general need help and it’s not just one ethnic group people because White, Black, Mexican, Indian, Latin and every other race are having the same problem. To see where the mind of the people are in this day and age makes me SICK.
