MSNBC Contributor, Joy-Ann Reid, the Front Runner to Replace Martin Bashir
Joy Anne –Reid, a major front runner to take the place of Martin Bashir’s 4:00 PM time slot on MSNBC, and she also holds an impressive 10 point lead over Ronon Farrow. Reid, a MSNBC contributor is currently managing editor of theGrio.com.
Interestingly, Reid has a slim lead against former RNC chairman Michael Steele. “Although he’s in the running on Mediate, Farrow is far behind, with a fifth place standing on TVNewser.” Reid, has a very impressive resume, which includes experience in traditional and new media as well as 15 years working in television and radio news. Reid also has a good track record of guest hosting shows, reporting experience and internet savvy commentary.
MSNBC and network President Phil Griffin, still has to deal with the after math of Bashir’s departure, which is a very complex situation, “On one hand, there’s the appearance of MSNBC yielding to those who dislike Bashir. On the other hand, the race card, which has not gone unnoticed by the people who feel that a man of color (Bashir) was forced out of his job by a mob of angry white people, so to speak. The latter hand has set social media outlets ablaze with widespread calls from MSNBC viewers to boycott the network until Bashir is rehired.” After personally attacking former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, in a scripted commentary last month which addressed comments that Palin made about the federal debt to slavery.” The former “Nightline” anchor rudely said that, “someone should defecate in Palin’s mouth.” Bashir later apologized for those rude remarks.
