What do you get when you have bad weather, fierce competition, and a not so glowing report according to the Washington Post and Variety? I tell you what you get, Tyler Perry’s movie A Madea Christmas finishing third at the box office over the weekend.

The movie, Hobbit came in first making a whopping $74 million. Perry’s movie, finishing third, made only $16 million which is below his previous Madea films which opened north of $20 million.

The Washington Post didn’t add to the rankings by calling Perry’s movie ‘an insensitive, unfunny cringer.’ Wait a minute. Not only did the Washington Post harm Perry’s potential rank, Variety called the film ‘an exceptionally poor piece of holiday cash-in product.’

It’s hard to determine why a movie doesn’t do well, especially when it’s produced by Tyler Perry. All a person has to do is look at Perry’s credentials and the many movies he’s produced to know that having a sub-par showing isn’t in his DNA. However, Perry is sure to bounce back. Let’s wait and see what happens when there’s no bad weather and people (Perry’s fans) begin to voice their opinion of the movie on Facebook and Twitter.

A Madea Christmas received ‘an A- Cinemascore average from filmgoers. One thing you need to know is that Perry’s movies have been critical proof at the box office.

As you decide whether you want to invest your time and money in this movie, I ask that you go without having any biases. In addition to this, if you decide to see the movie, leave all of the criticism outside and watch the movie with an open mind. Then you can make up your mind as to whether this was a good movie or not.
