In a recent interview with Oprah, Pop and R&B singer Robin Thicke practically blamed wild-child entertainer Miley Cyrus for their tasteless performance during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards aired in August.  The performance was widely criticized by entertainers and family advocates alike for not just being over the line, but also for being poorly executed.  Even Cher, who has done her share of raunchy performances, talked about poor Miley like a dog.

While taping for the big O’s popular series, Oprah Behind the Scenes, Thicke said he was on stage and “didn’t see” the performance.  He appears to be protecting himself from the reputational fallout that comes from being on stage with the woman who appears to be disdained by the world for her behavior on stage that night.

A short teaser from the interview, which is set to air Sunday, features Oprah questioning Thicke’s decision to participate in the performance.

“You didn’t think of it (the VMA performance) as sexual?” asked Oprah.

After a brief pause, Thicke exclaimed, “I was on stage, so I didn’t see (the performance).”

He then said, “I’m looking up at the sky, I’m singing, I’m not really paying attention to all that. That’s on her.”

Luckily, Thicke’s actress wife Paula Patton didn’t have much to say after the incident, but from the looks of it, Thicke doesn’t either.

No one believes Thicke’s finger pointing for one minute. His “dumb-founded” demeanor is quiet similar to Justin Timberlake’s response after he and Janet Jackson’s “nipslip” incident backfired on them during the Super Bowl.

Just like Timberlake and Jackson, Cyrus and Thicke practiced their routine and knew what they were getting into…collectively.

“Me and Robin the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now,'” said Cyrus in an interview after the show.

Come on now Rob, the performance has been done and blown over. Couldn’t you have just chalked it up to just good fun and not make Miley look dumber than she already does? Don’t distance yourself from it. You will forever be on YouTube for that mess.
