Forbes Magazine Launches Magazine for African Women
Globally, women tend to be trendsetters and African women are no different. African women have long been known for their beauty, poise and grace. Now, Forbes has launched a magazine that is geared just for them: Forbes Woman Africa.
Often ignored by other Western corporations and magazines, Forbes is hoping to attract an audience of African women who are growing in their economic buying power. Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, businesswoman and African fashion champion, graces the cover of the inaugural edition.
The magazine will focus on business developments, culture, education, fashion and other topics that appeal to Africa’s growing populations. The magazine, which reflects the diversity of the continent, is a refreshing antidote to images that often reinforce negative, monolithic and stereotypical images of African women.
Many people are optimistic that the magazine will more accurately capture the vibrancy and uniqueness of African women as cosmopolitan and highly educated, global trendsetters.
ABN Group is the company that will publish the magazine and they are hopeful that the magazine will open doors for other publications that focus on the positive aspects of African life. ABN founder and vice chairman, RakeshWahi said, “There are so many stories of success on the African continent that we will never be able to do justice to all the women making a difference in the corporate world, which is the principal reason why I took the decision to have a separate magazine for women. We are looking forward to making this the most sought-after business magazine for women on the continent.”
Whether it is business, fashion, home, health and/or travel, Forbes Woman Africa will definitely change the ways that those in the West and in Europe view African women. Most importantly, the magazine can serve as inspiration for African women as they set and accomplish their own goals and tell their own success stories.
