A parent burying their child is a horrible thought.  What used to be seen as an ‘unnatural’ event is becoming too common.

Cherise Miller is the mother of 1 year-old Antiq Hennis, the child who was sh0t in the head by a stray bullet in Brooklyn Sunday.  Miller spoke to Daily News about her final moments with her baby boy.

“I went in my mother’s room and he’s jumping on the bed, laughing,” Miller said. “I didn’t yell at him. I was just sitting there. I just sat and I watched him.”

A short while later, Antiq’s father, Anthony Hennis, took the 1 year-old for a stroller ride through Brownsville when they were approached by a gunman who fired four sh0ts.  One of those sh0ts hit Antiq in the head, killing him.

Miller recalled, “They were headed to his grandmother’s house, three blocks away,” she said outside her home. “I never saw him [Antiq] again.”

The family is devastated and Anthony Hennis, who had to watch his son die, is especially hurt.  Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes met with Hennis, who many feel was the intended target.

“We’re on top of this,” Hynes told reporters after leaving Hennis’ home. “That’s all I can tell you…I tried to console them. It’s very, very difficult in these circumstances.”

Hennis, 22, according to officials is a known member of the Crips street gang, with 23 arrests, of which most are drug-related.  It has not been confirmed that a gang conflict is what sparked the shooting, but the implication coupled with the grief is a lot to shoulder. Many from the neighborhood have expressed concern over Anthony seeking vengeance and think extra police presence may be needed in the neighborhood.

Antiq’s killer is still at large and community activists are planning on increasing the current reward from $12,000 to $22,000 for the k!ller’s capture.

This is what happens when the decisions YOU make affect the lives of others. When your life is headed on a dead end course it’s one thing, but when your course drags others down then others need to cut you loose. This mother should have known the possibility of something tragic happening when you have children with a gang member (innocent people get caught in the crossfire). TRAGIC!!

First, my condolences to the family. Second,I feel it’s heartless to kick these people when they’re down. Of course there is plenty of reckless behavior involved but maybe that’s just God’s way of getting their attention. So sad that an innocent baby was lost but I’m sure this was a wake up for every one involved…even us…the people on the outside looking in.GET IT TOGETHER…DEFINITELY TIME FOR CHANGE…

My heart goes out to the family also RiP lil man…. I feel even though this is a drug related problem 2 parents lost their child in the process. It seems all we do is kick each other when we’re down it’s not right. I feel sorry for the parents but I feel sorry for the baby more. I believe this should open up alot of people eyes because our babies are getting killed over craziness. I’m gonna pray for their family and also the people that are kicking these parents in their time of mourning. Y’all need to have a heart & your self in the mirror you incconsiderate bastards.
