Singer Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton have a relationship that is highly publicized and appears to be good.  They’re one of the hottest couples in Hollywood right now, and both are in high demand.

This has led the media to ask the two about their past together and how their love came to be.  During a recent interview on the Howard Stern radio show, Thicke gave some interesting insights into his past with his wife.   The topic of their interracial relationship came up and Robin told the truth about how Paula appeared to be ashamed of him for his race.

Thicke says that for a very long time, he was his wife’s “secret.”  The two were dating in highschool, but she didn’t want anyone to know that she was dating a white man.   When it came time to go to the prom Thicke says that Paula ditched him to avoid the embarrassment.

“The funny thing is, in high school she didn’t take me to prom, her prom, because she didn’t want everyone to know she was with a white guy because she was president of the Black Student Union,” said Thicke. “I was a secret. She didn’t want to show up with a white guy. Funny right?”

The couple has been married since 2005 and each of them has risen through the ranks to live among the rich and famous.   They also say that the world’s perception of interracial relationships has changed over time.

“I think that times are changing. The new generation doesn’t feel the same way as the last generation,” Thicke said. “It’s mostly the older people who have those thoughts.”
