The loud mouth, take it or leave it, confident, cocky and strong appearance of Wendy Williams, host of “The Wendy Williams Show,” is apparently just a façade.  Well, so says an “unnamed” source.  This person told the New York Daily News that Williams plays the backseat to her husband, Kevin Hunter, who rules the show with an iron fist.  Allegedly, Hunter, who is a Co-Executive Producer with Williams on the show, had Williams’ cell phone number changed several times, hired a new driver who only reports to him and demands that all scripts, segments and questions be run past him first.

So whats going on?  Is Williams all just a front?  Is she really just a puppet of her husband?  Is he a control freak?  Or are they just two people trying to get past all the gossip?  Well, you’ll have to decide.

The source reported to NY Daily News that “Kevin [Hunter] makes all the decisions and has become more and more controlling as the show has become a success.”  Reportedly, when Williams was on the Broadway show “Chicago,” Hunter would sort through her mail and gifts from fans and only give Williams a portion.  The source said Hunter “thinks [Williams] is being bothered, and thinks he’s looking out for her, but Wendy loves her fans…”

A few years back Williams came forward telling her fans that Hunter had cheated. While she publicly forgave him, the success of Williams’ show continued to grow exponentially and the two were working side by side. Another scandal rocked Williams’ boat when Williams, Hunter, and The Show were all sued by a former publicist for creating a hostile work environment; the publicist alleged, amongst other things, Hunter sexually propositioned her, and when she refused Hunter threatened her. Of course this lawsuit went away quietly and Williams and Hunter have denied all accusations.

As Williams’ popularity and success is at an all time high, maybe the scandals are just part of the price of fame. When asked specifically about her marriage, Williams replied, “People will always, for the rest of my life, throw darts at my situation…they’ve thrown them at me in my entire career. My husband, he knew what he was getting involved with, but it takes a special kind of man to be with a ‘Wendy Williams.’ Hopefully Hunter is a special kind of man, because a woman who spends her days criticizing celebrities is probably not one to mess with.
