SolangeMost people think that Beyoncé’s little sister is still living in her older sister’s shadow, but that could not be further from the truth. If she is in the shadow, it is not because she is Bey’s little sister, as there is a whole universe of women that are in Beyoncé’s shadow. But Solange Knowles has made a name for herself in her own right, embracing the more natural side of beauty.

The singer made a huge fashion statement when she attended The Great Gatsby film screening, which was hosted by Quintessentially Lifestyle on Sunday night. Turning heads, Solange, 26, wore a black and tan number with a plunging neckline. She accessorized with red pumps and a black clutch purse. The event was held at the Museum of Modern Art , in New York City.

To date, the soul singer has released 11 singles since her  musical debut in 2003. Solange was the spokesperson for the natural hair care line, Carol’s Daughters, but parted ways with the company in 2012. Solange has also had success with teen movies starring in “Johnson Family Vacation” opposite Cedric The Entertainer and Vanessa Williams and “Bring It On: All Or Nothing”. Knowles was honored by the American Society of Culture Critics for her fashion sense and music.

Beyoncé has always sung the praises of her little sister. Beyoncé told More! magazine “I don’t even know what happens to me. I completely turn into a lunatic.” She added, “I was taught the importance of being a sister and my sister looking up to me.” Solange concurs with her sister, who she says is her biggest role model.  In an interview with the Daily Mail  Knowles said, “People think there should be this great rivalry between us, but there’s never been any competition. There’s a big age gap and we are two very different characters.” The famed DJ continues to support her sister while being her own individual unique self.
