The 2011 NBPA All-Star Gala - ArrivalsBeing late to a live taping of American Idol and fighting with her co-host Mariah Carey has seemed to work in Nicki Minaj’s favor as the producers want her back for next season, if there is a next season. Compared to their competition, The Voice, their ratings this season are lackluster at best. A.I. producer, Nigel Lythgoe told TMZ,when asked about Minaj’s possible return, “By me, she certainly will be.”

The producer also jokingly made mention of Justin Bieber being eyed as a judge for next season. He told TMZ, “Yes, I’m just trying to figure what he’d mentor”.  Of her first stint with A.I. Minaj told US Weekly, “My best and worst Idol moments? I don’t have a worst Idol moment. I’ve been spectacular. Yes, I am going to toot my own horn. And then my best moment is every single moment. I’ll toot it again!” “I didn’t know what to expect going in to the show. I was so nervous. I had a lot of anxiety. I felt like, ‘Okay, I know everybody’s just going to hate me’.” She went on to say, “There were moments in the audition process that I would say to the producers, ‘I can’t do this anymore. If everyone is going to give a good critique and I’m going to be the only one being honest, then America is going to hate me. I’m going to be seen as mean.’ And the producers said, ‘Nicki, trust us, America is going to appreciate the honesty.’ And that’s all I had to go on.”

Minaj almost had her American Idol dreams dashed, as there was a conflict of interest between endorsers for the show. American Idol is endorsed by soft drink giant, Coca Cola. At the time that Minaj was being considered for the judge’s panel, she was signed to an endorsement deal with Pepsi.
