Cosby Show’s ‘Cockroach’ To Play L.A. Reid in TLC Movie

caAccording to IndieWire’s Shadow and Act, former Cosby Show  cast member Carl Anthony Payne II, has been cast as mega producer, L.A. Reid in the VH-1 biopic of the 90s group, TLC.  Playing his ex- wife, Perri ‘Pebbles’ Reid  in the film, is Madea’s Family Reunion actress, Rochelle Aytes. The film which is based off of the rise and fall of TLC also stars, Keke Plamer as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Drew Sidora as “Tionne” T-Boz” Watkins, and Lil Mama as the late Lisa” Left Eye” Lopes. Evan Ross has been cast as the hit producer, Dallas Austin.

The film, currently under production, was aiming at using fresh new actors but due to time constraints, they were forced to make a decision on the cast promptly.  Drumline director Charles Stone III is directing the film with Chilli and T-Boz consulting and executive producing.  The script was written by What’s Love Got To Do With It screenwriter, Kate Lanier.

Carl Anthony Payne II played the beloved Cockroach on the long running Cosby Show sitcom. After the show ended, the actor went on to play Cole in the Martin sitcom opposite Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell. Other notable roles throughout his career include Reynaldo St. James on BET’s The Game. Payne has stayed relevant in the industry behind the scenes by producing wed series, short films, and music videos. He has also made his rounds as a stand-up comedienne.  Payne can currently be seen on the new television show , “For Richer For Poorer” starring Destiny Child’s Letoya Luckett,  and  Soul Food’s Rockmond Dunbar.

Both Chilli and T-Boz are continuing on with their music careers as much as possible and have entered the world of reality television. Chilli tried finding love on VH-1’s What Chilli Wants and T-Boz just recently embarked on her own reality series called Totally T-Boz on the TLC network.
