Jordan’s Alleged Love Child Begged His Mother to Sue to Force Jordan to Acknowledge Him

By  |  392 Comments

The woman who is suing Michael Jordan for child support was allegedly begged by her son to file the suit, all this according to TMZ.com.   Pamela Smith is suing Jordan for paternity and child support in a case involving her 16-year old son.  The boy was born back in 1995, when Michael was still married to his ex-wife Juanita Vanoy.

Some would say that this case is an example of why NBA athletes should not get married until they are over the age of 35.  The temptations on the road can be great, and the women left at home should either know what they are getting into or not get married at all.  But then again, Juanita got several hundred million in the divorce settlement, so maybe that’s what she wanted.

It is reported that the woman always had a good relationship with Michael and never needed the money.  But her son, Grant Reynolds (aka Taj) wanted Michael to be force to acknowledge him as his son and took his battle to Youtube.  In the video, Taj told the world that Michael was his father, and he also asked his mother to file a suit declaring the results of the paternity test.

Pamela’s alleged intention was not to embarrass Jordan, but to allow his father to play a bigger role in his life.  TMZ says that Jordan has given money to the family in the past, but that they were expected to keep quiet about the boy being Michael’s child.  Well, it appears that the cat is out of the bag.

Two wrongs do not make it right. And again, if MJ would have stayed faithful to his wife he would not be going through DRAMA now. And if the mother of the child saw fit to her husband, then what do it matter to you or anybody else? I am so sick of people putting down women regarding children being born. It takes two to tangle and it is especially sad when these black role models for our sons and daughters are so bold with their cheating and showing no respect for their spouses. What are they showing the children of tomorrow????

There’s a lot of facts missing. Everyone seems to be assuming quite a bit.

If Mr. Jordan has been supporting this familey all along, and does not want a relationship with the kid would it matter then?

I submit the kid is going about this all wrong, and using you tube to out Jordan, blind sided that can not be a good move, mom should have talked him out of it.

Then again it has not been proven that the boy is Jordans son, (another assumeion) It will be a lot of pain if he is not, just saying, if mom was having sex with one man as a groupie it could well have been 3 or 4 or 10 others, she had the opportunity and the mind set.

    • Lee Lee

      March 2, 2013 at 10:58 pm

      1. WHY are U ASSUMING she was a groupie? No one knows what Jordan has telling her in private.
      2. Maybe YouTube is the son’s LAST resort. He may have tried other ways and got fed up that Jordan wasn’t responding. He deserves his father’s love (which will make him his Dad), his acknowledgement AND his share of his dynasty/legacy.
      3. The word you’re looking for is assumption.

      March 2, 2013 at 11:23 pm

Nah…the kid did the right thing. I grew up with my father, but I couldn’t imagine having my father just disown me because of his image. Mike should have thought about that before he got in the bed with the woman. I can’t believe she didn’t at least force him to support the child. I’m a man and some women go over board with the support but nothing….with the money he has? Nah…

    • Jackie

      March 3, 2013 at 3:31 pm

We don’t know the nature of the relationship and we don’t know if Jordan was paying anything to support his son. What his son wants is acknowledgement and I believe he has a right to be acknowledged by his father. Now we also don’t know if the son has been trying to get his father’s attention and been unsuccessful. Until now.

The writer of this article makes an intellectual misstep in saying pro athletes should wait until 35 to marry. All this sex has nothing to do with marriage. It would have been more factual to say men should be smarter in their sexual relationships and if they create a child, be responsible about it. Don’t ignore the child just because the sperm met the egg. Unless you are saying pro athletes are stupid and don’t understand how babies are made.

Michael Jordan was one hell of a basketball player but as a human being he sucks. He is nothing but a sell out who cares nothing about anybody but himself. Magic Johnson is a better man than Jordan off the court because he is a humanitarian. Jordan is all for himself. Go Juanita, at least she got hers and she deserved it.

True statement, she cud have prevented this from happening with an open and honest conversation about the relationship (so called) with MJ and come to a reasonable way of confronting it. Youtube wasn’t the right way to handle it.

I understand why the teen wants acknowledgement (if MJ is the bio father). I don’t understand why woman have unprotected sex with someone they’re not in a monogamous relationship with. I also don’t get men especially athletes going in a vagina bare and finishing inside of the female. Males have fallen for the hot pocket since Adam and Eve. People care more about material possessions than they do their body. Hopefully this young man won’t do the same as his possible father MJ.

First of all, this woman CLEARLY knew Michael Jordan was married when she slept with him and had unprotected sex. There are a LOT of women out here who want “celebrity” babies. The woman has done her son a grave disservice. I’m not in any way defending Michael Jordan because it’s outrageous how many Black men (professional) have “kids on the side”. As much as we condemn Black men for their whorish behavior, we need to also start looking at the women who are so willing to sleep with them and have their babies with no concern for the wife and the family that this guy has. I feel very sorry for this young man. I can’t imagine having a parent who denies the fact that they are my parent. It’s not as if Jordan has denied it, he just hasn’t PUBLICLY acknowledged this.

    • Lee Lee

      March 2, 2013 at 11:13 pm

Not publicly acknowledging his son could be interpreted as not acknowledging at all.
      You also DONT KNOW:
      1. If they had unprotected sex or not because condoms DO break.
      2. If she knew he was married. She may have not been a big fan of basketball or Jordan and therefore, may not have known. I think he’s the greatest basketball player ever, but didn’t know he was married til YEARS later when he damn near retired or after. And if he’s not acknowledging his children, he may not have acknowledged his wife either if he could get away with it.

It works both ways. Wy didn’t MJ use protection. I think it’s good for him to get some negative publicity because he was living a lie when he was playing basketball. Whatever you do in the dark will surely come to the light. He portrayed a squeaky clean image to appeal to corporate America but he was doing everything the rest of the NBA players were doing. I don’t care what happends to MJ. Can’t stand him!

This kid sounds like he has some problems. I wonder how well he has done in school, the level of his self-worth, and are there any males in his life. By letting the Youtube universe know he is MJ’s son (maybe) will this make him likable. To beg his mother to sue to get MJ to acknowledge him seems limited to me. If he has stated that he wanted a relationship with him better, but just to say I am MJ son strange. Then again there is a lot we don’t now. Where are we getting our info from, Oh, TMZ(how much did that pay her?). This is what gets me, ” Pamela’s alleged intention was not to embarrass Jordan, but to allow his father to play a bigger role in his life”. This after 16 years, and his mental processes and personality has been form, Pleasssse. This sounds like a simple money grab to get this out of the media.

I don’t have much to say about this situation as it the article says that Jordan has provided financial support and any woman who marries a rich celebrity who is away from them a lot must know if she is not giving it some other woman is .

I did find it interesting that Jordan had a squeaky clean saint like image for so long and wondered how he and others keep it that way ( yes I know ” talk and the checks will stop might work which it appears was the arrangement here ) , but really men in that position are between a rock and a hard place…..what should they do get married early , stick with high class call girls , or risk being extorted by the next groupie who makes it up to the hotel room ? .

As for Jordan who hails from my families home ( Wilmington N.C and my brother worked with his father at G.E )I have never had much respect for him as he has probably made almost a billion dollars and still refuses to take a stand for anything lest it hurt his commercial appeal .

Finding out recently that he was engaged to ” Barbie ” was not surprising .

      March 2, 2013 at 11:19 pm

Vin that was my issue with Jordan too. As a bballer I thought he was phenomenal and I was a big fan, but I wasn’t interested in rocking the Jordans or anything with number 23 on it. (I had Bulls gear but none of it had his number on it.) Even back then I didn’t like that he seemed to be all about money and nothing else. And that hasn’t changed with age. He’s still under the mindset of “republicans buy shoes too”. Sad.

        March 3, 2013 at 6:32 am

Hi Ran agree with you 100% .

Of course I loved him as a Player , but was bothered by his and others lack of concern for his community and the World . It is sad that many of our most famous Athletes often grew up in poverty and should have had some awareness of family struggles , racism and discrimination yet many of them seem to have developed amnesia once they got rich and the “World was their oyster “.
You and I have already talked about their tendency desire ” all things white ( women )” , or at least the fairest skin white looking women .

But I think Jordan is a particularly striking example because he was the most famous of them all next to Muhammad Ali and he has earned more money than probably any thirty of them combined except for ” Tiger don’t call me Black I am cabourasian ” .

Whereas wanting them to be as Pro-Black and community devoted as say Jim Brown ( someone worthy of hero worship )may be far fetched , but I would be happy if they would just allocate some of that money to causes that help our community and Africa .

    • RAN

      March 2, 2013 at 11:30 pm

“If it were not MJ and just some ordinary joe would this kid go to the same extreme”

Taking it to Youtube? Probably not. Who would care? But don’t think for a minute that if his father were an ordinary Joe that he wouldn’t care about being acknowledged. I’ve heard of so many kids (usually adults) who go to funerals of ordinary men to make sure that people know this dude was my father. There’s a lot to be said for being acknowledged and a lot to be said for a man who refuses to do it. And yes, you are right, he’s trying to accomplish something. Whether to embarrass his father or what, IMO it doesn’t matter. IF this kid turns out to be Jordan’s he won’t have anyone to blame for this embarrassment but himself because if you there for your kids and teaching them things they won’t usually take to the airwaves to embarrass you.

For the record, he can’t be the stepbrother to Jordan’s sons, he’d be the half brother. And you’re right, he can’t be a whole brother because they have different mothers, but I’m going to assume that you referring to the way they will see one another. As a half brother I can tell you that the assumption you make is a possibility but not necessarily a given. I am one of tens of thousands of half siblings who couldn’t love my half siblings any more than if we did have the same two parents.

    • Lee Lee

      March 2, 2013 at 11:35 pm

If it weren’t MJ and some ordinary Joe, the son would probably still do the same. I’ve seen some take to YouTube on their parents. and who can blame him? MJ is an ASS so DON’T BLAME the VICTIM. blame the ASSHOLE who didn’t acknowledge his WIFE and keep it in his PANTS. And if he IS Jordan’s son, he would be the HALF BROTHER to Jordan’s other kids, NOT STEP. A step brother is someone who shares NO same biological parents, but each one of their parents is married to one another.

How fair is it that Michael Jordan don’t acknowledge his son. If the young boy is his son, why not be a father to the boy? I thought blood was thicker than mud, women and more important than money? If it’s really true and he’s his kid, why choose to give up money to the family instead of time? … A friendly hello and a weekend with your kid is always worth it’s weight in gold. I feel sorry for this kid because, he’s stuck in the middle of two adults and their BS. One parent choosing money and keeping her baby a secret collecting money, and the other ashame, cheater, and career driven ignoring his own blood. Smh … My thoughts.

More important why don’t people just take cars of their children. I truly don’t understand why kids are made to feel unwanted by blood— mother’s and father alike. And the kid didn’t ask to be a secret his parents did. He’s has a right to have Michael Jordan, or any other man to acknowledge him it’s his birthright.

Michael Jordan is one of the best basketball player in American history. Let us recognize that fact. He is not dumb as one poster stated. He is an investor,a word which has no meaning to some of you. My cousin once worked for his foudation. It is well documented that this man give so much to Chicago communities. I know of one of his outreaches that took place in Florida, long before he became a citizen of that state, he gave millions to African American communities to establish reading centers. Not to mention what he is doing for Chicago’s youth and those in his home state, North Carolina. I am in agreement that Jordan should recognize his child and give back support and become envovled in his life. It’s not too late. Then we have to ask, was this woman all about the money? This was a dis-servie to the boy as well. Think about this…when did she tell he son that Mr. Jordan was his father and why now? To the poster who mentioned that he married Barbie. What differnece dose that make? Stop being a racist. Your statement says something about you and not Jordan. You people are so resentful of anyone who becomes successful. Why is that? Is it the crab syndrome? I bet if Jordan came to your door and gave you a million, you would go about shouting what a good boy he is. Leave the man alone and stop passing judgement unless you are also judgng yourself. To the one that said, “I am a Michael Jordan haters”. Not good, he is enjoying his life while you are running up your blood pressure. How sad is that? If God was standing on the city ‘s square handing out rewards to those who rech aout to help others..would you be in the crowd? What have you done for anyone lately?

      In response to Peace :

I have no information on what Michael Jordan has done in the community and am afraid cannot take your word for it . What is known is that he has not taken a well known stand for , or against anything so that his commercial appeal is not harmed .

So as far as we know he hasn’t done anything . In my opinion someone who has been richer than some small countries for many years should be devoting his life to helping people in the World .

Michael Jordan commands a lot of attention and influence and his refusal to speak out for anything for African Americans , or anyone else speaks wonders about his character .

My family is from his hometown of Wilmington North Carolina and to this day he is not known to have done anything to be revered for in that small City other than play basketball.

As for being engaged to a white woman it is not that the choice that he , or any individual makes that matters at all .The problem is the large percentage of rich and or famous African Americans that have historically preferred white women and the negative and deep psychological message this sends .

As for calling me , or any African American racist you are engaging in the reverse-racism strategy of the oppressor .

For neither I nor any Black American has ever been known to discriminate against , enslave , kill , destroy the communities of, deny that they are human, support hundreds of years of negative psychological messages , rape women in mass , refuse to hire , dissolve the families of , subject them to inferior education , move out of entire communities when someone of another race moves in , rob the capital of , and perpetrate other harms against another group of people because of their race .

Until this happens calling me , or any black person racist will appear to be an attempt to shift guilt . Perhaps your family owned a plantation .

I personally grew up w/o a father in my life. I am now 47 and it still leaves a void. Not having a father in a child’s life can leave an extremely lonely and empty feeling to that child. You wonder what it was that ypu did that was so bad your own father did not want to acknowledge you as a person. You don’t necessarily dwell on it but at times it hurts like hell, especially as a youngster. You grow older and you learn to deal with it and move on. This child,Taj, is dealing with those emotions right now. It doesn’t help the matter any by the fact that his father is Michael Jordan, supposedly one of the greatest basketball players of all time. That has got to naw at him. He has to be wondering what-if! Personally I think this makes Michael Jordan look very much like the self-absorbed ass that he is. I would only suggest to Michael Jordan to spend some quality time with his son. Invite him over, express an interest in him as your own flesh and blood. That is something no amount of money can buy. How would he had liked it if his father had abandoned him the way he is doing Taj?

I understand your pain being a man that grew up without my father too but trying to make a man want a relationship is ridiculous. That’s like trying to force a woman to love you or trying to make someone be your friend. The sad part to me is the mother giving in to this behavior and not getting some therapy for her son because that’s what he needs, not some public love me daddy campaign that is going to end badly for the kid. And as far as everybody bashing Jordan, he is human and you are stupid for holding him to a higher standard than any other man.

any of his children. Her being a groupie isn’t the point. You never see him w/his kids. How does a basketball legend have 2 sons & neither play ball. Every other old athletes have their kids n the game & proud. He somewhere marrying a Mexican. Really. You tube won’t change MJ. He ain’t no kinda daddy to no kids. Athlete should marry at any age. Grow up men!

I could really care less about Mr.Jordans image. Thst was tainted the day he chose to not acknowledge his out of wedlock child. Support or not a child needs closure the mother had hers the child has not. Iets not assume that the child and or mother did not try to reach out to Mr.Jordan before going public. If he rebuffed their contact he should have thought against it for his own sake. You reap what you sow. Not passing judgement on either of them. The facts are that Mr.Jordan at the least posed for a picture with the woman and right or wrong concerning the young boys actions he is in some kind of pain behind being hidden by his assumed father.

Just one more examples of monogamy not working.

Monogamy is the institution, people create it not the other way around. It only works when the people have a “connection” not based upon a farytale or emotional emptiness.

I’ll betcha the the two boys and the daugh. Jasmine ain’t gonna be to happy about their golden egg now being split four ways instead of three. They may feel about this 1/2 brother just like Rev. Jesse Jackson’s children seem to feel about their 1/2 sister, they seem to NEVER acknowledge her. Big sister, Santita doles out a lot of “love” to people when she had her Chicag WVON radio show….NEVER did I hear her give any “love” to LilSis, nor even acknowledge this child as being a sibling whenevr she talked about how many siblings she has. So maybe the Jordan children will follow suit of the Jackson’s and act as though this child does not exist. Let’s wait and see what the DNA test show first. Is he MJ’s or not.

Listen seems to me a whole Hell of a lot of ppl, are assumeing a whole lot of things right now to assume the story is true eather way your wrong, first thing we should wait until the mother makes a legal claim second let MJ, Handle His Business, like He Always Has and Third We are our worst Enemy Stop jumping to judge a man buy the fruts of his labor, judge him buy his work. I.E. If we all were in a field picking fruit and we all picked fruit from the same trees but I only picked a half of basket of fruit and I sat down the rest of the day,, but you was in the same trees in the same field picking the same fruit and you picked three baskets but you worked all day, you walk over to me and call me lazy, now at the end of the day you make 300.million dollars and I make 600 million but you worked all day , the moral of the story is your fruit was not of good quality and was not picked for the right purpose.know the reason behind the decision MJ.made and the purpose because you worked all day to pick bad fruit and I asked the purpose of need of the fruit and took the time to look over the quality of the fruit i needed and got paid more for my fruit , mean I picked the right thing for the right purpose, some of you ppl that is in front of this thing need to get behind the buss instead of looking for the answer look over the hood see were it goes, don’t just jump on the bus, It might be going the wrong way, come on mannnnnnnn. Just saying.

He should sue his mother first! How dare she deprive this child of having the best not only a style of living but most of all the best education! There is something wrong with this story….In the words of the great poet, Keith Sweat ” Something, Something Just Ain’t Right!”
