Rihanna Lands New Deal With MAC Cosmetics

Rihanna just landed a sweet deal with MAC Cosmetics that features four collections. The first of the four collections is named RiRi Hearts.

Feisty R&B singer may have 99 problems but landed new deals isn’t one. The singer just inked a cool four collection deal with MAC Cosmetics. Although the brand is no stranger to working with celebrities, the company says their partnership with Rihanna”is a true, organic collaboration based on mutual admiration and respect.” The announcement of her partnership with MAC Cosmetics comes just days after she debuted her fashion line with River Island’s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection.

Rihanna even utilized help from her girlfriends, including her best friend Melissa. Rihanna credits her best friend for being the first girl in high school to wear makeup. “When Melissa arrived at school she really stood out. She was a black girl with blonde hair who wore make-up – she was the only girl in school who would wear make-up, because we weren’t allowed. We became friends and she would come over to my house with her older sister’s magazines and we would go through them and say, ‘Hey, we could do something like that.’ That’s when I started to get into fashion and make-up. A year after I met her I dropped out of the cadets. I was like, ‘This is terrible! They are just screaming at me, I don’t like this!'” she said during an interview years ago.

RiRi (Hearts) is the first of the four MAC Cosmetics collections the singer is working on. It is slated to release in May 2013. The singer discussed her new deal in recent interviews saying she is thrilled because it gives her creative control over the project and it’s a natural fit.

“Being creative is something that I love, so I can put that into different outlets. Music happens to be the first thing that I gravitated to, and now music opens doors to just so many different opportunities, and they all tie in. My makeup looks, my fashion looks…they help me to express myself as an artist. I think it helps people  to understand me or my mood, my story,” she said.
