Ouch: Jet Magazine Editor Disrespects Fantasia for Being Illiterate

Mitzi Miller, the editor-in-chief at Jet Magazine, is in hot water after making comments on her Facebook page about the singer.  Miller and her magazine were feeling the heat after Fantasia appeared on the cover of the magazine.  Fantasia had expressed outrage over the cover, stating that the image was nearly 10 years old.

Apparently, this upset Miller to no end, who went to Facebook of all places to blow some steam over Fantasia’s complaints.

Also noted in Journal-isms , Miller said this about Fantasia: “The fact that I wasted an hour of my workday writing a press release to address an issue created by a person who cannot even read it is just… “

Miller’s remarks were in response to Fantasia’s blast of the magazine, which was nearly as unprofessional as Miller’s:

‘This saddens Me!!! It is clear that this picture is 10 Years Old and JET Magazine puts it on the Cover!! After I send them the NEW LOOK AND DIRECTION. . SAD!!! I WANT A PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM JET. Now im not sure if the interview is correct. SEE!! America they and use me as they crash Dummy BUT NO MORE. IF I DONT STAND FOR SOMETHING ILL FALL FOR ANYTHING.’ “

In case you’d like to see what irritation looks like when it’s been covered up, this is Miller’s official statement on the Fantasia-Jet Magazine debacle:

“JET magazine is honored to have Fantasia grace the cover of its March issue,” her statement began. “It is unfortunate that Fantasia is displeased with the cover selection, however JET stands by its decision,” Miller wrote. “As standard editorial practice, JET consulted with Fantasia’s team, but reserves the right to select the image we deem as most appropriate for JET’s brand and reflective of the cover story sentiment. “JET continues to root for Fantasia’s success and encourages her fans to pick up the new issue.”

Miller also stated that this incident makes her want to be a housewife again.  After this embarrassing remark was released to the public, she might actually get her wish.    Miller is known as a strong journalist and professional, so observers are stunned by her comments. The lesson is that Facebook is not really private and messages can be easily shared around.  Keep your business to yourself.
