Nelson Mandela’s Granddaughters New Reality Show- “Being Mandela”

mandela-daughter-cropped-againNelson Mandela’s granddaughters are the newest reality show queens; the show called “Being Mandela”.  The new series premiering Sunday on COZI TV, a new network launched by NBC Owned Television Station. Mandela is a Nobel Peace Prize winner, the former South African President and anti-apartheid legend. He will not appear in the show.

Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway (pictured right) and Swati Dlamini (pictured left), the fashionable, 30-something granddaughters of Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. The sisters sometimes act like mother and daughters, with the trails of sibling rivalry, family gossip, and talk Mandela whom they affectionately call “Big Grandpa”. Mandela is said to be very strict but loves it when his great-grandchildren are around and likes the new reality show. The series will also features Winnie Mandela “Big Mommy”, the former wife of Nelson Mandela. Winnie is clearly taking charge of the family and is relishing in the attention in the new reality show.

The duo spent most of their childhood in exile in the United States.  They along with two brothers, also become the latest famous names to launch a fashion line, called “Long Walk to Freedom” in honor of their grandfather’s autobiography. Their lives are special and glamorous, and they know it. They hope that US audiences will see a vibrant and modern side of South Africa through their eyes.

The sisters are the daughters of Zenani Mandela and Prince Thumbumuzi Dlamini of Swaziland.

The 13-episode first season follows the two women as they try to carry on the family legacy while juggling motherhood in Johannesburg.zenani-mandela
