Kerry Washington: An Unstoppable Force

Kerry Washington was honored by the NAACP with three different awards for her work in "Scandal" and Django Unchained.

Kerry Washington is one of the most talented African-American actresses in modern cinema. She’s done a wide range of roles and rarely allows herself to be typecast into roles like many other actresses. She is also an attention-stealing presence on the red carpet with her elegance, grace, and sometimes bizzarre dresses.

Washington was recently honored with three awards in three different categories by the NAACP. She won an award for Outstanding Actress for her starring role in the hit ABC drama “Scandal,” for Best Supporting Actress In a Film for her role in “Django Unchained” and the President’s Award for Special Accomplishments and Philanthropic Efforts.

This award does not belong to me,” she stated while accepting her award for “Django Unchained”. “It belongs to our ancestors. We shot this film on a slave plantation, and they were with us along every step of the way.” Washington has definitely garnered a lot of attention from both the public and critics for her excellent portrayal as Olivia Pope, a crisis management consultant for the President of the United States’ Arts and Humanities Committee, on “Scandal.” She has proven to be an unstoppable force and people are simply wondering what’s next in store for the beautiful actress.

Women across every social networking site post hashtags like #ScandalisOn, #Scandal and #SsshhScandal. I’m glad to see her being recognized for her work and I hope she continues to work and make excellent art.
