Did the POTUS Admit Malia Obama Is Dating?

During a press conference on Valentine's Day, President Obama mentioned children growing up and dating. Many are wondering if he was hinting that Malia Obama is now dating.

President Obama has been known to get sentimental over his children growing up. In an interview last month, the president said “There’s something about your daughters that just breaks your heart. It’s just watching them grow up. When I think about the fact that Malia will be out of the house in four years it chokes me up. The finite amount of time you have with your children, and the joy they bring on a minute-to-minute, day-by-day basis — the idea that that’s not there all the time is something that can hit me hard sometimes.”

When the president completed a press conference yesterday, he left many people asking whether or not he was hinting to his teenage daughter, Malia Obama, having a date for the evening. “I do have to warn the parents who are here, who still have young kids, they grow up to be, like five feet 10 inches. And even if they’re still nice to you, they basically don’t have a lot of time for you during the weekends,” he told the crowd. “They have sleepovers and dates. So all that early investment just leaves them to go away.” The president didn’t expound upon his remark and the White House declined to further comment, but many believe 14-year-old Malia Obama may already be dating.

The president later jested with the audience saying, “I can’t imagine a more romantic way to spend Valentine’s Day than with all of you, with all the press here. Actually, Michelle says hello. She made me promise to get back in time for our date tonight. That’s important.” He continued: “I’ve already got a gift, got the flowers. I was telling folks, the flowers are a little easier, though, because I got this rose garden. A lot of people, you know, keeping flowers around.”

The press conference was held for the president to discuss his plans that he unveiled during the State of the Union Address earlier this week. Regarding universal access to pre-K education programs to boost kids’ life and academic skills, the president said “The size of your paycheck, though, shouldn’t determine your child’s future. So let’s fix this,” he said. “Let’s make it a national priority to give every child access to a high-quality early education. Let’s give our kids that chance.”
