Spotlight: The Goddess of Beauty Seeks to Boost Black Female Self-Esteem

1) What is your name and what do you do?

My name is Judith Martin and I am an aspiring entrepreneur and author of children’s books. The Goddess of Beauty is my first published book in a series about beautiful and inspiring women from around the world.

2) Tell us about your book and why people should buy it

The book opens with Princess Lana who lives on the island of Jamaica. Princess Lana travels from Jamaica to the island of Trinidad to uplift the spirits of a young insecure girl who does not feel pretty. Princess Lana tells the sad little girl about the African Goddess of beauty Oshun, after hearing about Goddess Oshun the young girl discovers her own inner Goddess and accepts Oshun as her role model. I encourage all women of African origin to get a copy of this book because they are all Goddesses like their ancestor Goddess Oshun.

3) Why do you think that this topic is an important one to address for the African American community?

The topic of beauty is very important in the black American community because many of our women and young girls struggle with self esteem issues. The Goddess of Beauty will help in addressing these issues because the book tackles both inner and outer beauty.

4) Tell us about your background.

I was born and raised in Jamaica by a mother who always treated me like a princess; I was always given lots of beautiful clothes, bags and shoes as a child. But most importantly I was told that I was beautiful and I grew up feeling that way.

5) What projects are you working on right now and what’s keeping you busy?

I am currently working on editing and copyrighting some of my unpublished books. In the future I would like to sell other merchandise like t shirts, bag packs, and mirrors featuring characters from the books.

6) Is there anything else you’d like to share with our Your Black World audience? How can people find out more about you?

My ultimate goal would be the creation of a beauty theme park based on ideas from all of my books. For additional information on The Goddess of Beauty or to contact me please visit my website at

This design is spectacular! You certainly know how to keep a reader
amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start
my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented
    it. Too cool!

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to
be running off the screen in Ie. I’m not sure if this is a format issue
or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought
I’d post to let you know. The layout look great though!
Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Kudos
