beysinginIt pays to be chummy with the President of the United States. Beyoncé can now add singing at a Presidential inauguration to her list.  USA Today has announced that Beyoncé, James Taylor, and Kelly Clarkson will perform a list of patriotic songs that include America the Beautiful and My Country, ‘Tis of Thee.

Bey will sing the big one, The National Anthem. Let’s hope she remembers all the words. The National Anthem is known to be one of the most difficult songs to sing. Beyoncé will be following in the footsteps of Aretha Franklin, who sang The National Anthem the first time around.

President Obama is set to take the oath on Jan. 20, in front of a crowd expected to swell to 1 million. The repeat swearing –in ceremony, inaugural parade, inaugural balls, and Congress lunch will not take place until that Monday. The crowd that attended the first inauguration estimated 1.8 million. Beyoncé is no stranger to the White House, as she sang Etta James’s At Last at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, in 2009.
