Beyonce Responds to Lip Sync Haters by Belting Out the National Anthem at a Press Conference
If you don’t think that Beyonce can sing the national anthem without lip syncing it, you’ve now been officially served. This week, to prove that she can actually sing the song for real, Beyonce went onto national television and sang the “Star Spangled Banner.” She didn’t have a backup track when she sang the song, but she wore it out.
This all took place during a news conference to prepare for Beyonce’s upcoming Super Bowl half-time show. The media wasn’t expecting to see Beyonce perform, but she’s never one to shy away from the spotlight. Beyonce ended the performance with a simple two word response to the haters:
After being asked about what happened during her lip syncing controversy at President Obama’s inauguration, Beyonce spoke to the matter in a thoughtful way.
“I am a perfectionist … I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra [at the Inauguration]. It was a live television show and a very important moment for me.”
Beyonce also said that the weather was part of the reason that she didn’t want to take a risk on national TV.
“Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk … so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.”
When Beyonce was asked if she was going to sing live at the Super Bowl, she responded, “I always sing live.”
Oddly enough, Beyonce didn’t give a straight answer when she was asked if Destiny’s Child was planning a Super Bowl reunion. This means we’ll have to be ready for the surprise.
