Magazine Portrays Michelle Obama as a Transgender Model

First Lady Michelle Obama has been portrayed in quite a few ways.    Sometimes, she is portrayed as the angry black woman.  Other times, she is portrayed as the woman who loves to buy the latest fashions at Target.  But this week a Spanish magazine made the controversial decision to portray the first lady as a transgender model.

Styled by Brad Goreski, and featuring the model Connie Fleming, the magazine presents a pose of the first lady putting her hand on the bible.  She is wearing pearls as if she is taking a presidential oath.  We are not sure how this sits with the first lady and her husband President Barack Obama, but it’s certainly interesting.

The visionary behind the cover, Luis Venegas, gave this explanation for the controversial imagery.

“I remember back in early 2007 when the Democratic Party’s nominees were narrowed down between two “controversial” stereotypes never before seen for presidency: a black man, Barack Obama; and a woman, Hillary Rodham Clinton.” He continues: “At the time, I thought, when will the time come when these archaic walls break down and the White House will be occupied by, for example, a black transsexual woman?”

This is not the first time that the Obama family has been celebrated for embracing LGBT causes.  Earlier this year, Newsweek named Barack Obama “The First Gay President” after he took a stand in support of gay marriage.
