GMA’s Anchor Robin Roberts Hits ‘major milestone’: Not Expected to Return to GMA till Summer

Robin Roberts after surgeryEver since Robin Roberts, of  “Good Morning America,” shared that she would be undergoing a major medical procedure, America has been following her progress and wishing and hoping that she would recover as soon as possible.

The “Good Morning America” anchor has kept all her well wishers updated on her recovery. She has even shared her set backs as she travels the long journey to full recovery, after her bone marrow transplant, to treat myelodysplastic syndrome.

This past weekend, Roberts hopped on Twitter to announce yet another milestone; on Saturday, it was officially 100 days since she underwent the medical procedure which possibly saved her life. This milestone also marked her reunion with her pooch, KJ.

She tweeted,

“Look who made it back for my 100 day celebration…KJ!!…We just keep staring at each..can’t believe she’s finally home.”

She also shared a  cute picture of herself and KJ.

In another tweet, she said,

 “Every morning I mark the day post my bone marrow transplant. Today I reached a major milestone…Day 100! Blessings..XO.”

Dr. Gail Roboz, who is Roberts’ doctor, appeared on  GMA and during her appearance, she said that the first 100 days are very important. She said,

“We don’t trust anything for the first 100 days. After that, we’re happy.”

She also added,

“With cancer patients, we use five years as a benchmark to a cure. When someone has had a marrow transplant, we’ll be watching her for life, to see if she’s having symptoms.”

While it is not clear when Roberts is expected to be back at work, some sources are saying that she may be back around June 2013.
