Woman Delayed Giving Birth So She Could Vote for Obama

Just add this one to the long list of crazy stories that you’re going to remember about the Obama presidency.  A woman in Chicago was so determined to vote that she said that she wasn’t going to let anything stop her from getting her vote out for President Obama.  She even said that she wasn’t interested in having her baby until after she cast her vote.

Galicia Malone is truly a lady who thinks the world of President Obama.  Her contractions were just five minutes apart, as the 21-year old woman stopped at the polling station in Dolton, Ill to vote for the president.   After she voted, she then rushed herself to the hospital.

“I was just trying to read and breathe, read and breathe,” Malone told WBBM Newsradio. “That’s what I kept telling myself.”

This was a first for Malone:  A first time voting and a first time having a child.  She seemed equally determined and excited about doing both.

“I never voted before, so this made a major difference in my life,” she said. “And I wanted this to be a stepping-stone for my daughter.”

Malone’s water had broken earlier in the day, but that didn’t get her to go to the hospital.  Instead, she waited for the polling center to open before she left the house.

“If only all voters showed such determination to vote,” Clark County Clerk David Orr said in a statement.

“My hat goes off to Galicia for not letting anything get in the way of voting. What a terrific example she is showing for the next generation, especially her new son or daughter.”
