Solange Knowles claims TSA searched her afro in a Miami airport

Solange Knowles is not shy of stirring up controversy and/or speaking her mind. Last week she took to her Twitter page to poke fun at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents in Miami, Florida, for what she calls “discrim-FRO-nation.”

Knowles took to her Twitter page after the occurrence and tweeted to her 1.3 millions followers: “Lets play a little game called: “What did TSA find in Solange’s Fro“?” Her Twitter followers participated in her game by tweeting what they believed was found in her afro. “Romney’s actual 5 point plan,” tweeted one follower. ” The good lord, Jesus of nazareth was fount in@solangeknowles’ fro,” tweeted another follower.

While Knowles didn’t go into detail about what happened that day, the agency’s spokeswoman Sari Koshetz said TSA doesn’t have a policy of specifically searching afros. “If someone is passing through the advanced imaging technology machine, it shows an outline of an individual, the same for every single person,” said Koshetz. “If the hair area is highlighted, the machine may have picked up an anomaly or a possible threat in the head area.” An example of a ‘possible threat’ could be a bobby pin, hair clip, extension clips, ponytail holders or cloth head wraps. “It would not be someone’s hair but something in someone’s hair,” she said.

Do you believe TSA is discriminating against women who wear their hair natural?
