Tyra Banks Hosted the Flawsome Ball On Thursday Night In NYC

Tyra Banks

Despite being known as one of the most beautiful women on earth, Tyra Banks has no problem reminding us that she’s far from flawless. The super model- turned- entrepreneur, hosted a ball in New York City on Thursday night in honor of self-esteem to benefit The Tyra Banks TZONE foundation, located at the new Lower Eastside Girls Club Center in NYC. The ball, named Flawsome, are the words flaws + awesome combined. The event’s tagline was “Perfect is boring. Flaws are awesome.” Banks’ celebrity friends Rosario Dawson, Padma Lakshmi, model Chanel Iman, Olympic gold-medalist Allyson Felix and Tyra’s ANTM crew; Kelly Cutrone and Rob Evans were in attendance.

Guests enjoyed food by world-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson, a “smize” photo booth and a special performance by Grammy-nominated rapper Drake. According to its website, the Tyra Banks TZONE foundation empowers girls and young women to live their dreams, discover new possibilities within themselves and take on life’s challenges with fierce determination and drive. TZONE is about building self-esteem and confidence, launching leaders, showing the world that girls can do and be anything they set their minds to. TZONE supports community organizations doing this work, whether through the arts or activism, media or mentoring, dancing or directing – however they choose to create their best futures.

Banks completed a Harvard University executive-education program in February, and has been focusing her business plans on ventures aimed at empowering young women and supporting female entrepreneurs. “My dream was to have a place that was brick and mortar, where they could build on that experience all the time,” she said. “The real impact is to have consistency, as opposed to an excursion.” In addition to her philanthropic work, the entrepreneur just landed an ABC comedy series called “Fivehead” based on her awkward teenage years and has just included male models for her upcoming season of “America’s Next Top Model.”
