In what might be the oddest news of the week, President Barack Obama felt the need to speak on the feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. The president won’t touch certain issues, such as gun control or urban violence, but it seems that the fight between the two divas got his attention.
The president discussed the matter during a call in to radio show host Michael Yo on “The Yo Show.” Being his intelligent and diplomatic self, the president gave his assessment on whether or not he could repair the relationship.
“I think that they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident,” the president said. “I’m all about bringing people together, working for the same cause, I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not going backwards.”
Yo continued to push the issue to the president to see if he has a favorite between the two artists. This led Obama to say that Mariah is his favorite, since she and her husband Nick have done events for him in the past.
“Mariah, she’s actually done some events for us. I’ve gotten to know her and Nick (Cannon), she’s a wonderful lady. Nicki I don’t know, but I’ve got her on my iPod.”
The feud between the two ladies got out of hand last week, as Mariah told Barbara Walters that Nicki threatened to shoot her. This led to allegations of excessive dramatization on the part of Carey, who didn’t act nearly as alarmed when her husband got into an ugly fight with rapper Eminem. Some are also wondering why Barbara Walters only wanted to hear Carey’s side of the story and didn’t request to speak to Nicki about what happened.
