Serena Williams Just Keeps on Dominating at the US Open

Serena Williams is simply storming through the US Open.  She’s dominating unlike she’s ever done in her entire career, and her opponents are wondering what hit them.  Even scarier, Serena says that she’s just now starting to get serious about playing better tennis.

“I feel like I’m going to get more focused and serious and start playing `Serena tennis,”‘ she said.

After dominating her opponents in previous rounds, Serena jumped into the Semi-finals by defeating Ana Ivanovic 6 -1, 6 – 3.   Serena faced two break points and saved them both.  She has lost just 16 games in five matches, winning 23 games in a row at one point.

“I think the quality of tennis compared to last year, it was much higher, I think from both of us,” said Ivanovic. “I mean, she was serving unbelievable. She was hardly missing serves. That puts a lot of pressure on opponents’ own service games.”

Serena’s next victim, or opponent, is Sara Errani from Italy.   She is the first Italian woman to make the semis since 1968.

“A lot will depend on her,” Errani said about Serena. “I will try to play my game, try to get her off balance. I still need to study up and prepare.”

Right after winning Wimbledon, Serena went on to Crip Walk after winning an Olympic gold medal.  If she continues to win the US Open, this might be the greatest year she’s had in an already-legendary career.
