Biracial actress Halle Berry appears in a new film titled “Cloud Atlas” as a white woman. The film is a mind-bending, epic tale spanning centuries — within which individual characters are reborn, made by the creators of “The Matrix” and “Run Lola run” (the Wakowski siblings, and Tom Tykwer, respectively). Berry plays a litany of characters in the film, but the white woman she portrays is Jocasta Ayrs — a kinky, mischievous wife of a composer. At one point in the film, Berry crosses gender and race lines and plays the role of an old male-Korean doctor. The film is 2 hours and 44 minutes long.

Berry’s co-stars, Chinese actress Xun Zhou also plays the role of a white woman and Hugo Weaving and James D’Arcy bend their genders by playing women.

Berry’s mother is of English descent, and her father is African American. Berry’s parents divorced when she was four years old. She and her older sister were raised exclusively by their mother. Berry has said in published reports that she has been estranged from her father since her childhood, noting in 1992, “I haven’t heard from him since [he left]. Maybe he’s not alive.” Berry has been unofficially donned the most beautiful woman in the African American community. In October 2008, she was named Esquire magazine’s “Sexiest Woman Alive,” about which she stated, “I don’t know exactly what it means, but being 42 and having just had a baby, I think I’ll take it.”  In 2009, rapper Hurricane Chris released a song entitled, “Halle Berry (She’s Fine),” glorifying her beauty.
