In a post for “Good Morning America,” Robin Roberts updated her fans on her treatment on Tuesday. The “Good Morning America” host’s mother passed away the day after she went on medical leave to seek treatment for MDS. Roberts was recently diagnosed with MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow condition, after her battle with breast cancer. She will receive a transplant from her sister Sally. Her treatment is expected to last several months, according to medical experts.
In her Tuesday post, she described her weakened body and told fans they give her the courage to keep a strong mind. ”The start of last week went well but the daily chemo/treatment caught up to me by the weekend. My body is so weak but not my mind. YOU give me the courage to keep going.” Tuesday is Robert’s last day of chemotherapy before she receives her bone marrow transplant on Thursday, she revealed. Roberts has been in the hospital since last Monday preparing for the procedure.
There are a slew of celebrity guest hosts who are slated to fill-in in Roberts’ absence. Among the news legends, it was announced that Diane Sawyer, Amy Robach, Elisabeth Vargas, Katie Couric and Barbara Walters are all on board to fill in. Aside from news legends, Kelly Ripa, Rob Lowe, and Chris Rock are slated to fill in also. The most anticipated guest host is Oprah Winfrey, who will bring in heavy morning-show competition. Her best friend, Gayle King, is one of the hosts of GMA’s rival show “CBS This Morning.”
