The Hebrew Bible Gets First Edit in 500 Years: Is This the Beginning of Change For Religious Institutions?
A Jewish Scholar Completed a 30-Year Project Editing The Hebrew Bible
Israeli Judaic scholar Menachem Cohen, 84, spent 30 years correcting what he believed to be a plethora of errors in the Hebrew Bible. This is the first edit in 500 years for the Hebrew Bible. Correcting a total of 1,500 grammatical errors, Cohen’s work is slated to be published next year. He said his main goal is to correct the past and prepare for the future. Cohen claims his corrections do not affect the meaning of the Hebrew Bible.
“It was amazing to me that for 500 years, people didn’t sense the errors,” said Cohen. “They just assumed that everything was fine, but in practice everything was not fine.“ The last corrected version was published in 1525 by Jacob Ben-Hayim, and called the Makroat Gedolot, which put together the religion’s varying texts and commentaries.
Cohen is not alone in his critique of the Hebrew Bible, currently the Hebrew University Bible Project in Jerusalem is also working on a scholarly edition of the Hebrew Bible. The project’s editorial coordinator, Rafael Zer, finds Cohen’s version to be “quasi-scientific” because it lacks a guide of how and why the supported errors were corrected.
Cohen is not the only Jewish scholar to notice and try to correct the errors – currently, the Hebrew University Bible Project in Jerusalem is also working on a scholarly edition of the Hebrew Bible. The project’s editorial coordinator, Rafael Zer, has said that he finds Cohen’s version “quasi-scientific” because it lacks a guide of how and why the supposed errors were corrected.
“I want the Bible to be user-friendly,” Cohen said. “Today, we can create sources of information and searches that allow you to get an answer to everything you are wondering.”

Rediclous waste of time and money. All the bibles and holy books are mythology books just like Greek mythology.
The bible may not be written by God but some of the history in it is accurate.
What I find missing in this article is an example of what Cohen found. So I can not make a comment. Give an example of at least one of the errors he found.
God’s Word will never change.

Sexgod has about as much information that the God of the Bible does not exist, as you have that He does. Any man who says that he does not question the Bible and its sources is a liar. I choose to believe that God does exist, and I also choose to respect Sexgod’s freedom to not believe in God. No matter how Sexgod expresses his opinion, we who claim to be like Jesus, must respond with Jesus like behavior, and not insult others who think a bit differently than we do. If we get angry because someone insults what we believe, we are no better than they are…Jesus himself was insulted…yet He reacted with humility and wisdom to those who treated Him with disrespect. How can you claim to love God, when you can’t even show Sexgod love. Consider my thoughts, and do better!

Yes, God’s word will never change. Biblical literature is great in telling us what God revealed to us. I think the Bibles we have now are accurate, as scholarship went into them. This will just be another version of the bible.

What about retrieving the rest of the Lost Books and/or incorporating those that we already have back into the Hebrew Bible?
Keith, Is the guy who opts with MAN authority to change GOD’s word for HIS better understanding, the same as what you accussed of SEXGOD?
This is GOOD NEWS! Now only if christian scholars could do the same for the new testiment. Especially with the writings of Paul – too many christians have gone off on the deep end and our destroying our culture and politics.

Hopefully , one of the grammatical error that’s corrected is that “Black People” are drawers of water and hewers of wood , that in itself , needs correction. Agree ?
