27 Year-Old Matt McQuinn Spent His Final Moments Protecting His Girlfriend, Samantha Yowler, From the Spraying Bullets of the Colorado Massacre
Couples never thought their movie date to see the Batman sequel “The Dark Knight Rises” would result in a record-breaking massacre that would leave 12 people dead and over 70 people wounded. Matt McQuinn is among one of the 12 victims who was killed. He spent his final moments protecting his girlfriend from the spraying bullets in the theater.
Matt and Samantha were coworkers at a Target store in Springfield, Ohio. They both transferred to another Target located in Aurora, Colorado, where Nick Yowler, Samantha’s brother, has resided for the past decade.
McQuinn and Yowler’s brother helped save Samantha’s life. She suffered one gun shot wound to her knee and is listed in stable condition at a local hospital. Her brother escaped the scene uninjured.

Jon Blunk Also Died Protecting His Girlfriend, Jansen Young, from the Stray Bullets in the Record-Breaking Massacre
Jon Blunk also lost his life shielding his girlfriend, Jansen Young, from the spraying bullets inside the theater. Young said Blunk pushed her under a seat for protection when he was fatally shot.
“Jon just took a bullet for me,” Young, 21, told the ‘Today’ show. “He knew and threw me on the ground, and was like, ‘We have to get down and stay down,‘” she said. “Every gunshot, I was like, ‘This is it … I’m done for.’”
Young said she tried to rouse him when the shooting was over, but he didn’t move. “He is the guy that would take a bullet for you. He did the right thing all the time,” she told ‘Today’. “I know I would not be here today if Jon had not been next to me in that movie theater.” Young escaped uninjured.
Would your man lose his life to save you?
