Lolo Jones Gets Major Heat for “Insensititive” Tweet about Guns
Lolo Jones was originally in the news for telling everyone that she was a virgin at the age of 29. Now, she’s in the news for something a bit less flattering.
Jones is being attacked for tweeting a remark that could be deemed insensitive after the recent shooting deaths in Aurora, Colorado.
“USA Men’s Archery lost the gold medal to Italy but that’s ok, we are Americans… When’s da Gun shooting competition?” She tweeted.
Of course, the tweeting world went crazy, since some people felt that Jones’ comments were uncalled for after the nation had just endured one of the most notorious massacres in the last 100 years. Right now, the nation’s tolerance for gun violence has gotten much lower.
“Yikes, you’re probably gonna get some not-so-nice responses to that last tweet…” one fan said to Jones right after the Tweet.
Jones then defended herself by saying, “sorry u guys only think of violence but I think of all the hunting I do w southerners in da south. Its impressive.”
Greek track athlete Voula Papachristou was banned from the games for making a tweet that many considered racist. She is bitter about being banned, since she says that she had no racist intent with her remarks. Maybe Jones had better be a bit more careful.
OMG, this has gone to far, she is entitled to tweet what’s on her mind. I even “lol” her comment because I thought it was funny and true. Our nation while we don’t have the most guns, we do the majority of the firing of guns. That woman wasn’t thinking about the Colorado incident trying to be insensitive. Our nation has a whole lot of c**p with us, we trip over non-issues and ignore the really important stuff that can and will impact us and our children’s children.

Dumb ppl need to STOP TWEETING and focus on the Olympics. What kind of athletes are these folk? When I sprinted in college last thing on my mind was social media BS!!

Where is the insensitivity? I didn’t see where Lolo Jones made any reference to the Colorado shootings first off.Secondly,Lolo Jones was referring to the USA Men’s Archery team loosing the gold.She is hoping that the men’s shooting team does better.
This young lady hasn’t done anything or said anything wrong. So whoever is getting upset,need to just grow up and stop associating her words to such a tragedy as the Colorado massacres.
I’m a gun control advocate and I say; “C’mon!” I see nothing wrong with what she said and her explanation, “that she hunts with southeners” makes more sense than attributing it to any reference to gun violence. Really now….

What is “insensitive” about her tweet? A high value is placed on gun rights in the United States — that’s why it’s the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, right after freedom of speech, religion, and assembly.

If America doesn’t like her comment, then maybe our government should start doing something about all the guns in the hands of crazy Americans. Don’t expect everyone to be shut down, because some fool shot up a theatre filled with innocent people. She was right to bring international attention to America’s evil and ignorant love affair with guns!
The key is, what will her sponsors think. There is one young lady that tweeted what was on her mind and she was sent home from the olympics. A gun joke may play well in the south, not in Columbine or Colorado. She is not representing the south, she is representing the United States. Current events should help shape the content of tweets.
